Who we are Deena from Urban Peridot

Danielle - Left, Deena - Right

Deena DeVito-Carl, I.D.D.P., ISP
Principal Designer / Creative Director

Deena’s passion for interior decorating began honestly with her father being a carpenter and furniture designer.  This creativity sparked a natural interest in the arts where Deena focused her talents for over 16 years after studying at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto.  After completing numerous highly satisfying renovation experiences on her own homes, Deena decided to return to studies and enter the design field full time.

Deena is a member of CDECA (Canadian Decorators Association) and IDDP (International Design and Decorating Professionals).  She received her formal training through Sheffield School of Interior Design based out of New York City.  Upon graduation Deena received an award of merit for her outstanding design work.  She then went on to pursue an interest in Staging through various workshops and gained her ISP (International Staging Professional) status through QC Design School out of Ottawa.

Having the ability to understand a client’s needs and transform a client’s vision into a reality is where Deena’s success lies.  Your home will have the style of a professionally designed space that matches your personality.  She also has the ability to envision a space despite its obstacles.  Deena strives to improve her knowledge and practical skills through education and trade shows.

Deena also holds an associate degree in dance; and in the past, enjoyed an active career as a dance educator / choreographer.   Deena currently lives on Vancouver Island with her husband and daughter.

Danielle Gayton - Stylist

Danielle brings a complementary understanding to Urban Peridot Design.  She quickly senses the atmosphere of the pre-staged house and is able to quantify the gap between what’s there and what a wide variety of people would expect and like to be there. In this way her input complements Deena’s skill in knowing “how” to create the attractive changes needed. Having lived in five countries on three continents with fluency in four languages, Danielle’s experience with a wide variety of people and life-styles is a large factor in her ability to sense potential client expectations. So she often works alongside Deena where the two bounce ideas off one another after assessing a home.

Danielle heads up our Seasonal Decorating and Event Planning department.
